RAD SPACE is completely playable with no sign-in at all, and everything works offline. Signing in is optional. It only adds the ability to see your profile on your other devices and on our website, spaceisrad.com.
If you do not sign in: nothing about who you are. No account, no identifier, no profile.
If you choose to Sign in with Apple: we ask Apple only to confirm it is you. We do NOT request your name or email, so we never receive them. Apple gives the app a single anonymous identifier, and our server stores only a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of it that cannot be turned back into anything about you. We use it to save your in-app progress so it can appear on your other devices and on spaceisrad.com. What syncs: discoveries, ranks, streaks, XP, trophies, ships and other unlocks, starred objects, saved sky events, and your app settings. That is all. No personal details, no contacts, no messages, no browsing history.
RAD SPACE can use your location to show the sky for where you are standing: what is up right now, the Atlas Sky finder, and tonight's events. This is optional. The app only asks for location when you open a feature that needs it, and only "while using the app."
Your location stays on your device. It is used to calculate star and planet positions locally and is never uploaded to a server, saved to a file we can see, or shared with anyone. The app asks only for roughly city-level accuracy, since that is all the sky math needs. You can turn location off at any time in the iOS Settings app, and the rest of RAD SPACE keeps working.

Your progress and preferences are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, Apple syncs this across your own devices through iCloud, tied to your Apple ID and covered by Apple's privacy policy. If you also Sign in with Apple inside RAD SPACE, the same progress is saved to our own server (see "What we collect") so it appears on the website too.
You are always in control:
Memberships and any purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the app only whether your membership is active. We never receive or store your name, card number, or billing details.
There are none. RAD SPACE includes zero third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking libraries. We do not use the Advertising Identifier, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
To keep space data fresh, RAD SPACE fetches public information such as upcoming rocket launches, satellite tracking data, space news, and imagery from public sources including TheSpaceDevs, Celestrak, the Spaceflight News API, and Wikimedia Commons. These are ordinary requests for public data. The app does not send your identity or your location to these services.
RAD SPACE is made to be safe for classrooms and young learners. It shows no ads, includes no third-party tracking, and has no social features, chat, or user-generated content. Signing in is optional and never required to use the app or in a classroom, so a student can use RAD SPACE with no account and no personal information collected at all. If an account is used, the only things stored are the scrambled Apple identifier and in-app progress described above, and they can be deleted at any time.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
